    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    Performs routine (journey-level) administrative support or technical program assistance work. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work.Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

    EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

    Mailroom Clerk:

    ·Sort, prepare and process inter-agency mail.

    ·Sort, prepare, and process incoming mail of various size and complexity per agency guidelines.

    ·Sort, prepare, and process outgoing mail using state of the art postage equipment.

    ·Sort, prepare, and process incoming/outgoing overnight and certified mail.

    ·Multiple daily mailruns between State Capitol and Rudder Building.

    ·Daily mailrun to Post Office and Comptroller's Office.

    ·Driving the agency truck when needed for various runs.

    ·Works closely with other mailroom personnel to insure efficient operation of the mailroom.

    ·Assist in monitoring and maintaining well-organized work areas and adequate mailroom supply inventory.

    ·Maintain accurate files and records.

    Operations Support:

    ·Assist in performing authorized moves.

    ·Safely transports, lifts, handles and/or moves office equipment, furniture, supplies and other items as directed.

    ·Assist agency with meetings and receptions; set-up and break-down as needed.

    Customer Service Representative:

    ·Serves as Rudder Reception back-up for Operating Support division, including relieving guard for daily breaks.

    ·Responds to internal and external customer(s) inquiries.

    ·Greets callers and visitors, answers general questions, and directs customers to appropriate staff.

    ·Performs all other related duties as assigned.

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

    ·Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required.

    ·Previous experience working in a mailroom required.

    ·Basic use of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office Suite products is required.

    ·Experience in customer service, support services, and/or general administrative functions preferred.

    ·Duties may be repetitive in nature and will require lifting, grasping, reaching, stretching, bending, kneeling and stooping.

    ·Must be able to independently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to move objects exceeding 200 pounds with assistance.

    ·Some assigned duties may require exposure to inclement weather conditions.

    ·Ability to communicate with the public and agency employees in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

    ·Regular and punctual work attendance.

    · Valid Texas Driver's License required with acceptable driving record.
