Description

The
Manager of Data Center & Facilities Services will lead the strategy, design, planning, and deployment of scalable and resilient data center infrastructure.

The Manager is responsible for the overarching operations, performance management, risk mitigation, and success of the data center.

This role will collaborate across IT to ensure strategic alignment and that efficient, reliable, and secure service is delivered to campus customers.

This role will maintain oversight of data center team members, resolve escalations, and ensure that all relevant incidents are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

The Manager of Data Center & Facilities Services will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by ensuring UCLA's IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of the university's academic mission.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students.

This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.
Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, data center services, network operations, cloud services, or another related field. (required)
  • Two years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment. (required)
  • Extensive applicable experience in information technology, data center, disaster recovery, computer science, computer information systems, or a related field. Significant experience managing and contr (required)
  • Significant experience overseeing data centerrelated projects and processes. Significant experience leading multifunctional teams. (required)
  • Advanced experience with problem research and resolution for issues related to a complex data center facility and colocation (required)
  • Advanced experience and understanding of UPS systems, HVAC systems, and other physical infrastructure associated with temperature control and power systems. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and nontechnical stakeholders. (required)
  • Significant experience working in a projectbased environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (required)
  • Extensive experience solving technical and nontechnical problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the proper resources. (required)
  • Experience operating as a point of escalation. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (required)
  • Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, data center services, network operations, cloud services, or another related field. (preferred)
  • Five or more years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fastpaced, serviceoriented environment. (preferred)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of safety policies, practices, and procedures pertaining to data center operations. (required)
  • Advanced knowledge of ITIL and other industry best practices for data center management. Proven ability to triage and escalate to supervisors and/or other teams for resolution. (required)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to mediumsized teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated leadership / management skills, including abilities in persuasion, negotiation, change management, and mentorship. (required)
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities (required)
  • Able to lead data gathering efforts seeking information from multiple and diverse sources. Demonstrated understanding of how decisions affect teams. Demonstrated ability to make decisions with integrity. (required)
