Description

The Compliance Specialist provides support and assistance to the Chief Compliance and Audit Officer with administering the University Compliance Program.

Manages key compliance-related projects that include working directly with stakeholders to develop project deliverables, tracking the progress of deliverables, and reporting project statuses to campus management and leadership.

Represents the Compliance Office at campus-wide and departmental meetings, university committees, and programs as needed.

Participates in the development and implementation of classroom, web-based, and other media training programs for all employees designed to promote knowledge of University policies, and legal and regulatory requirements of the University's activities.

Project manages compliance initiatives and campaigns, including reporting on progress, completion, and analysis of deliverables. Assists with audits and other reviews of campus programs. Assists with the identification of areas of internal control weaknesses. Handles confidential information, including those on research, patients, staff, and training records.

Executes complex compliance projects and works closely with University management, faculty, and staff to communicate the merits of and adherence to all aspects of compliance at the University.

Performs other duties and projects as needed or assigned by the Chief Compliance and Audit Officer.
Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and comprehensive understanding of emerging trends and regulatory requirements including but not limited to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Code of Federal Regulations, and California Code of Regulations. (preferred)
  • Experience with developing compliance metrics and measurements, and holding individuals and departments accountable in a thoughtful manner encouraging support of the compliance process. (preferred)
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate the impact of changes in federal and state regulations. (preferred)
  • Skill in analyzing information and objectives to define problems, identify patterns, tendencies and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternatives and their implications. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, on a onetoone basis or in group situations, stressing qualities of tact, discretion, and persuasiveness. (required)
  • Ability to summarize and present complex information and results in a manner easily understood by nonexperts. (required)
  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct reports and business correspondence. (required)
  • Ability to work independently, setting priorities which accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibility. Ability to adapt to changes as a result of automation. (required)
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Access and other database query programs. Working knowledge of Powerpoint, Power BI and/or presentation materials. (required)
  • Project Manager Skills (required)
  • Experience in designing and operating compliance learning campaigns as well as leading live presentations. (preferred)
  • Experience with policy development and administration. (preferred)
