***: Identifies, registers, and maintains records of all trauma patients by using a trauma registry data system. Maintains current accurate data within the trauma registry by collecting, entering, retrieving and reporting data related to all trauma patients treated at Boston Medical Center, to establish supportive documentation qualifying the Hospital as a Level One Trauma Center. Analyzes data and releases information in accordance to established ethical standards.Position:

Schedule:
Full Time / Remote
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Concurrently performs abstractions and data entry on all injury related admissions to the hospital, all injuryrelated deaths, all injuryrelated hospital transfers; and all other Full and Modified Trauma Team activation patients. Includes all data from the time of injury through rehabilitation.
- Assures that Trauma Registry assignment of ICD10 diagnosis codes and AIS/ISS are accurately reflective of patient's injuries and severity.
- Assumes responsibility for identifying all new trauma patients who meet inclusion criteria into the registry.
- Collaborates in a professional manner with all members of the healthcare team to promote the goals and objectives of the trauma program.
- Maintains an open dialogue with the Trauma Program Manager to discuss issues related to patient care and data collection/reporting.
- Reports critical gaps in the presence of medical record documentation to the Manager.
- Manage workload effectively in order to secure complete data entry on all patients within two months of hospital discharge.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Associates degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) required.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one year ICD-10 coding and data entry experience.
Managing a clinical database experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Advanced medical terminology knowledge required.
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Experience with hospital information systems (such as GE or Citrix) is a plus.
