** This position requires a split shift on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays**
The Associate Scientist will perform lab duties under the direct supervision of senior Biotech Ops (BTO) staff. Key areas of focus/support include preparation of buffers as well as execution of one or two specific methods or processes.
Manufacturing & Analytical Technical Support
Under close supervision, prepare buffers or execute experiments in support of the commercial manufacturing process including development, scale up, troubleshooting/deviations.
Support and/or participate in fermentation and purification operations in the bioprocess technical operations group, as directed.
Maintain equipment and supplies as needed for experimentation and general laboratory upkeep.
Documentation
Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of work in lab batch records and/or notebooks.
Training
Remain current on training requirements as outlined in the training matrix and other Company policies.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or related discipline is required with no relevant experience.
Knowledge
General knowledge of bacterial growth, protein structure or chromatography.
Skills & Abilities
Strong technical writing skills required.
Exhibits open and constructive communication style and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Standing for moderate periods of time and wear lab coat, gloves, and other personal protective equipment required for working in the laboratory and cGMP cleanrooms.
