Clinical Research Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

Research Assistant I will perform experiments and record data in a translational neuroscience research laboratory.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collects and organizes experimental data
Maintains records and databases
Uses software programs to generate graphs and data reports
Assists with animal surgery (mice)
Performs western blot, immunohistochemistry, brain tissue preparation, and other routine lab techniques
Conducts library searches
Performs administrative support duties as required

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Careful attention to details
Good organizational skills
Ability to follow directions
Good communication skills
Computer literacy
Knowledge of animal research protocolsEDUCATION:High School Diploma required; some college preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
At least one year of experience working in a laboratory.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Works under general supervision in a laboratory setting performing mouse brain injury models and behavioral tests in separate rooms. Supervisor regularly reviews progress of work.
