- Demonstrate the ability to communicate, motivate and understand the academic and emotional needs of six to nine year old children
- Plan and implement lessons in language arts, mathematics, and social studies that facilitate active learning and follow Potomac's curricular guidelines and requirements
- Monitor student progress using a range of formal and informal assessment tools, and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners
- Create and manage a positive classroom environment that inspires student learning
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, parents, support staff, and members of the community
- Communicate effectively with parents to discuss student progress and areas for growth
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops
- Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the primary level
- Ability to support Potomac's mission to foster each child's intellectual development, love of learning and strength of character
