- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 3 years of product design engineering experience in the automotive, truck, bus, or other on-highway vehicle industry
- Proficiency with computer-aided design/modeling software (CATIA V6 or equivalent)
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Tools (FEA)
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and assembly, welding, plastic component design, adhesives, and automotive paint
- Experience with Design For Manufacturing (DFM)
- Ability to troubleshoot design issues in production
- Proven track record of lowering costs through design modifications
- Experience in Body & Structures; consideration for those with Chassis & Powertrain background
- Proficiency in any CAD package; Catia is advantageous
- Combined experience in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering
- Engage in product design within an automotive or similar industry setting
- Utilize CAD/CAE tools for design and analysis tasks
- Apply problem-solving methodologies such as DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D, GD&T to ensure quality designs
- Collaborate effectively to troubleshoot and resolve production-related design issues
- Implement cost-reduction strategies through innovative design changes
