    Job Details

    Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), an operating unit of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers.

    The Staff Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and/or performing detailed engineering of separable parts of larger efforts in the assigned discipline, under the technical direction of an engineering technical lead. Reports to the respective chief engineer.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Designing and performing detailed engineering efforts.
    • Providing detailed cross-functional engineering communication, design, evaluation, and implementations achieving novel and unique functionality and capability.
    • Technical interface with present and prospective customers.
    • Providing detailed technical information to program managers including cost, schedule, and technical risk assessments at all stages of implementation through multi-disciplined engineering applications.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • US Citizenship
    • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
    • An undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering field; Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with basic principles of drafting, CAD, statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and stress calculations. Experience in using

    NASTRAN, AFGROW, NX, LSDYNA, ABAQUS, SolidWorks, MATLAB/Python/, LabView, ANSYS, or other modeling and simulation tools.

    Experience with structural testing, instrumentation, and data reduction.

    Final rank will be determined on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
