- Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
- Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
- Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
- Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
- Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
- Fill out paperwork immediately following or during the treatment process.
- Preserve life and/or prevent the worsening of the patient's condition and promote recovery.
- Provide immediate, lifesaving, medical cases before the arrival of further medical help, this can include performing procedures such as:
- Placing unconscious casualty into the recovery position
- Performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Stopping bleeding using pressure and elevation
- Keeping a fractured limb still
- Knowledge and ability to evaluate water conditions at aquatics facilities to determine any potential dangers or hazards
- Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water conditions
- Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
- Employee must provide adequate certification to perform lifesaving/preserving procedures.
- Employee will be regularly required to stand and walk and on occasion run.
- Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Employee must be able to complete detailed reports.
- Must be prepared to work early mornings, long days and late nights.
- Employee must have an email address and the ability to regularly access it.
- Employee must be punctual.
- Employee must follow all company standards and policies.
- Employee will be required to work outdoors in warm weather
- Minimum of 6 months of related work experience
- Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, or equivalent
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent
