Department: Recreation

Position to be Filled: Seasonal Lifeguard (10 Full Time)

Required Qualifications/Essential Duties:

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Must be currently enrolled in High school or an Accredited Educational Institute/School, OR have High School diploma or general Education Degree (GED) plus 3-6 months experience working with youth/Adults in the Recreational/Lifeguard related field
• Must possess or able to obtain a Lifeguard Certificate and maintain throughout employment
• Must possess or able to obtain a valid first aid and CPR (adult, child and infant) certificate and maintain throughout employment
• Enters water to rescue and/ assist persons in distress; administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
• Monitor swimmers during regular operations and special pool events;
• Patrol, observe, and monitor the swimming pool and slide areas to ensure safety and prevent accidents;
• Keep a look out for accidents in the water, on the diving boards or on the swimming pool deck;
• Prepare facilities for regular operation and facility rentals; perform facility clean-up during special events and after closing the facilities;
• Warn facility users of water hazards or dangerous activities and enforce aquatics safety rules;
• Assist with desk reception and related customer service activities; accepts registration, collects fees and process receipts; retrieves registration data forms;
• Provides customer service and general information to the public in person;
• Removes and replaces pool covers;
• Inspects facilities, grounds and equipment for safety; assist in minor maintenance assignments and required;
• Inform other lifeguards and facility staff when more help or equipment is needed;
• Be punctual, dependable and project a professional and health image through dress, behavior and positive attitude;
• Be supportive of company policies and procedure guidelines;
• Perform position related duties designated by Sports Coordinator Supervisor.

Reports To: Sports Coordinator Supervisor
Starting Rate of Pay: $16.00 per hour (Non-Exempt).
Approximate Hours: 40+ hours per week
