    Role Overview

    The Medical Assistant Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all Medical Assistant Externs and/or new Medical Assistant hires for Cooley Dickinson Medical Group (CDMG) and for providing training and support. In addition, the Medical Assistant Training Coordinator functions as a Medical Assistant II, assisting providers and nursing staff in the delivery of adult and pediatric nursing care. The Medical Assistant Training Coordinator provides care in a professional manner in a demanding clinical environment.

    The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm. There is no distinct home location in this role, and you would be expected to reliably commute to various practices across the Pioneer Valley. Towns/cities include Amherst, Belchertown, Florence, Greenfield, Hadley, Northampton, South Deerfield, West Hatfield, and Williamsburg, MA.

    Additional Responsibilities:
    • Help in the establishment of new externship sites as applicable. Conduct evaluation of externship sites to determine suitability for student experience.
    • Conduct site visits to monitor all students and new hires.
    • Conduct evaluation of student and new hire progress and, where applicable, provide input into final grades for externship courses.
    • Serve as a resource for externs and new hires in their career development.
    • Occasionally conduct community needs assessments to determine potential job placements for graduates or practice assessments to determine potential sites for new hires.
    • Perform competencies for Medical Assistants both in precepting programs and for new hires to Cooley Dickinson Medical Group.
    • In addition to externship and training coordination, perform the duties of a Medical Assistant.
    • Provide coverage to other CDMG practices as required.
    • Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
    • Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
    • Attend meetings as required.
    • Perform other functions/duties as requested.
    Qualifications

    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • CMA, AAMA, RMA, CNMA, or CCMA Medical Assistant certification required.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required prior to hire.
    • At least 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant with Cooley Dickinson Medical Group required.
    • Demonstrated ability to train and teach others required; strong clinical skills as a Medical Assistant required.
