Job Description
This is a multi-level posting.
Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.
Under moderate supervision, the tax analyst focuses on applying/developing knowledge of tax and accounting principles for income taxes, preparing the federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, monthly tax provisions and associated supporting work papers for the separate affiliated groups and partnerships.
Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the compliance team to prepare basic or intermediate level federal and state income tax returns.
Helps to prepare basic or intermediate level United States monthly tax provisions including the associated tax account roll forward schedules and performs other tax accounting procedures.
Assists in the preparation of basic or intermediate level quarterly federal and state income tax estimated payments. (10%)
Researches fundamental tax questions as needed. (5%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (0-5%)
Assist the tax accountant or senior tax accountant as needed. (0-5%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Graduate degree preferred.
Certified public accountant preferred.
Tax Analyst I - zero to two years of related experience.
Tax Analyst II - two or more years of related work experience, with at least one year of relevant tax experience.
Working knowledge of tax law and procedures, tax research skills, familiarity with various tax returns and schedules. Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.
Strong computer software skills.
Proven effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Extended work hours will be required, especially during the tax compliance filing process or other critical times.
