    This position is posted multi-level and may be filled at the Tariff & Compliance Analyst I, II, or Senior level based on candidate experience.

    The tariff and compliance analyst position works closely with internal stakeholders and technical staff to interpret and ensure proper application of existing tariffs and develop and implement new or revised tariffs that meet the company's financial and operational needs while complying with all applicable rules, codes and legislation.


    Responsibilities


    Works closely with internal stakeholders and technical staffincluding legal, engineering, information technology, billing, gas supply and operations, key account managersto interpret and ensure proper application of existing tariffs and develop and implement new or revised tariffs.

    (60%) Interprets and reviews proposed regulations, rule makings and regulatory orders. Prepares comments and makes recommendations regarding company responses. Analyzes regulatory and other industry developments and recommends regulatory strategies.

    Analyzes filings by other companies in states served by MidAmerican Energy Company to identify issues that may impact MidAmerican Energy Company.

    Contacts other stakeholders regarding items of mutual interest. (10%) Advises business unit management on the regulatory impact of various activates or projects. Manages and coordinates regulatory related compliance and process reviews and provides recommendations to management. Provides regulatory input to project development.

    (20%) Establishes and maintains relationships with regulatory and consumer advocate staffs to allow exchange of information and presentation of company positions.

    (5%) Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)


    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, engineering, mathematics, economics or a related field.

    (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Minimum two years of prior work experience in the utility or a related field.

    Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyze regulatory decisions, and provide advice and recommend company positions. Influencing skills to persuade, direct, lead opinion and negotiate. Effective oral and written communication skills and effective presentation skills. High degree of individual initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner with quality. Computer skills must include spreadsheet and word processing applications. Experience with database applications is desired. Long-term planning skills to interpret industry trends, regulatory and customer requirements and corporate objectives. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
