Job Description:
Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the following role in Cambridge, MA (multiple openings): Site Reliability Engineer.
Senior. Performing database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, and migration of existing databases; Responding to and resolving database related requests from other departments; Defining database requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence the new designs and standards; Identifying data security related issues and helping to improve overall security of the database environment; Assisting developers with database development and schema design principles, including normalization and de-normalization when needed; Collaborating with the support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems; Participating in on-call rotations and guiding the restoration and repair of service-impacting issues; and Implementing backup strategies and disaster recovery scenarios.

Required Qualification:
Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Telecommunication Engineering, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related technical role.
Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Telecommunication Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related technical role.
Must have:
Three (3) years of experience in the following: Python, Java or Shell Scripting; SQL, PL/SQL, or MySQL; Oracle, AWS, or Azure; Linux or Unix; Flask, Grafana, or Splunk; and Docker, Snowflake, Postgres, or Kubernetes.
Compensation:Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The base salary for this position ranges from $ $170043/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
