    Job Description:

    • We are looking for a Senior Controls Engineer for a position in Addison, IL.
    • The ideal candidate will provide project management and hardware engineering leadership to deliver automation systems across various industries.
    • This role necessitates proven technical expertise in implementing automation solutions using PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
    • The Project Engineer will engage directly with clients, leading a team of engineers in defining requirements, creating specifications, and guiding automation solutions through production.
    • This role involves leadership within the business unit, requiring adept problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal abilities, a focus on operational efficiency, and a drive to establish partnerships.
    • The Project Engineer showcases success by fostering repeat business from both new and existing clients.
    Responsibilities:

    • The role demands the ability to deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either autonomously or by leading a team.
    • The candidate should be capable of conceptualizing, detailing, and implementing control systems for industrial processes and equipment that align with client needs.
    • Tasks include developing a control system architecture, selecting components, creating schematic diagrams and system documentation, and possessing functional expertise in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
    • This role requires comprehensive knowledge of Controls hardware, including Control Panel design, UL508A familiarity, Motor Control Centers, Hazardous area panel design, and industrial instrumentation.
    • Experience working with various voltage levels is essential.
    • For larger systems, familiarity with industrial networking for connecting control system components and instrumentation is beneficial.
    • The Project Engineer will design, detail, and implement different fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, ProfiNET, Modbus, etc.).
    • The ideal candidate should possess a diverse engineering skill set and the capacity to work independently, acting as a technical lead on projects and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
    • This role may also involve taking on Project management responsibilities in some projects in addition to or instead of hardware engineering.
    • This encompasses:
    • Development of project plans, work breakdown structures, and associated budgets.
    • Task prioritization, scheduling, time tracking, and reporting.
    • Financial tracking, early issue identification.
    • Conflict resolution, leadership, team support, and participation in project status meetings.
    • Overseeing daily project operations and activities for projects up to $1.5M.
    • The role often includes ensuring the overall project profitability.
    Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is mandatory.
    • Preferred 10+ years of experience with capabilities in the following areas:
    • Extensive experience in designing electrical schematics, including power distribution for various voltage levels.
    • Background in Hazardous Location Control System Design, Surge Protection, and IO Protection.
    • Proficiency in Control Panel FLA, Heating/Cooling, and SCCR Calculations.
    • Thorough knowledge of Control Panel production processes.
    • Understanding of PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon.
    • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms like Wonderware, GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Schneider, and Siemens.
    • Knowledge of DCS hardware/software platforms such as Emerson DeltaV or similar.
    • Experience in sectors like Water/Wastewater Treatment, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas, and Mining.
    • Experience leading teams to provide control system solutions.
    • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
    • Professional references required, ideally including one from a subordinate, a peer, and a manager.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% in the Chicago area with occasional out-of-state travel.
