- Performs and demonstrates dental hygiene services including taking accurate radiographs, dental prophylaxis, periodontal therapy and maintenance, administration of local anesthetics, placement of sealants, fluoride treatment, oral hygiene assessment and instruction, patient management, maintaining patient recurring care (recall) systems, and other dental tasks.
- Ensures treatment rooms, dental instruments, equipment, and materials necessary are in place for effective and efficient patient care while following all appropriate asepsis procedures.
- Maintains accurate documentation in patient records.
- Provides patient education, post-operative instruction, and other information regarding care to patients or callers as needed.
- Ensures efficiency in clinic flow via room turn-around, sterilization, stocking, and cleaning.
- Provides assistance, support, and relief to other dental team members with clinical, administrative, clerical, or business duties or other projects as necessary.
- Performs office and clerical procedures relative to patient records, appointments, and fees.
- Assists in maintaining an efficient, safe, secure, orderly, and aseptic environment of care for all patients and employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Can perform duties listed above.
- Performs and demonstrates public health dental hygiene services including independent dental screenings; application of oral prophylaxis for healthy adults and children; and application of fluorides, sealants, and other topical agents for the prevention of oral disease.
- Graduate of an accredited associate or bachelor degree dental hygienist program.
- Experience with digital x-rays and electronic dental records is preferred.
- Must have a valid Nebraska driver's license and provide proof of personal driver's insurance and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes.
- Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Nebraska is required.
- Must have current certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
