    Position Information

    Classification Title Post-Doctoral Associate AD FLSA Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.0 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary


    Objectives of PERSEUS include developing a forest management model that optimizes ecosystem services at a local scale, and developing a forest landscape simulation model that assesses management alternatives at a broad scale.

    The post-doctoral scientist will work with colleagues in the Warnell School as well as the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Georgia, and similar colleagues from Purdue University and the University of Maine, to accomplish the goals associated with these objectives

    Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position


    A PhD in forest management, forest biometrics, operations research, or a closely related field such as forest ecology or landscape ecology with experience in modeling multiple ecosystem services.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies


    Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with groups of academic colleagues from other universities and other fields of research.

    A demonstrated interest in applied forest planning and the ability to work independently.

    A demonstrated ability to manage and analyze forest resource information (basal area, volume, etc.) and remotely sensed imagery, and the ability to develop algorithms that simulate forest management at local and/or broad scales and across long time frames.

    Physical Demands

    Work in front of a computer screen for several hours (with breaks as needed). Driving. Some overnight travel.
