- Greet patients with a warm and welcoming demeanor, providing assistance and information as needed.
- Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar to optimize patient flow and minimize wait times.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to appropriate staff members.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
- Accurately input patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances, utilizing knowledge of medical billing codes and procedures.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims electronically, ensuring compliance with billing regulations and timely reimbursement.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve billing discrepancies or denials in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical billing or healthcare administration is preferred.
- Proven experience working as a receptionist or in a similar administrative role, preferably in a medical or chiropractic setting.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems; experience with programs such as Medisoft, Kareo, Athena or CharmHealth is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, insurance verification, and claim submission.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and insurance companies.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Previous experience in a chiropractic or healthcare setting is a plus, but not required.
