    JOB SUMMARY:

    MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE:

    • Assists the Finance Director in Directing, planning, coordinating and developing policies concerning the activities of the Finance Department including accounting, budgeting, treasury, finance, project, and revenue activities;
    • Reconcile the city's general funds and oversee the reconciliation of all other bank accounts;
    • Responsible for regular balancing of pooled cash, Accounts Payable Open Items, and other necessary subledgers;
    • Assists in preparing budgetary and financial reports;
    • Assists in monitoring the City's annual budgets versus actual expenditures;
    • Assists in monitoring the City's overall financial position;
    • May direct and/or supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities;
    • Assists in preparing the annual financial reports for audit by independent auditors, including work papers required by the auditors;
    • Assists in the implementation of adequate internal controls over the City's fiscal activities;
    • Assists in preparing reports for management concerning the scope of audits, financial conditions found, and sources and applications of funds;
    • Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees and the public with the need to communicate orally and in writing and where tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality are required;
    • Responsible for maintaining performance measures for the Finance Department
    • Performs other duties as directed.
    SUPERVISION -RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: Supervises personnel of the Finance Department under the guidance of the Finance Director.


    EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; PLUS
    • Three years municipal accounting experience;
    • Must be bondable
    • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and maintain a status of insurability.
