There are few professions with as much potential for the future as nursing. Not only is it essential to our society, but it is also meaningful and human-centered, providing a foundation for many exciting opportunities for further specialization.

Our generalist nursing training program prepares you to care for people of all ages, both in theory and practice, over the course of three years. In the third year, you will have the opportunity to specialize in a specific area. At our hospital, Krankenhaus der Barmherzigen Brüder in Schwandorf, you can choose to specialize in "stationary acute care," which focuses on adult patients.

The theoretical portion of the training takes place at our own nursing school in Schwandorf, while practical training will be completed at Krankenhaus St. Barbara, as well as other facilities such as social services, nursing homes, and hospitals.

Educational Requirements for Nursing Professionals


The educational requirements for our nursing training program are:

  • A middle school diploma
  • A (qualified) secondary school diploma and completed vocational training
  • A (qualified) secondary school diploma and at least one year of training as a nursing assistant
