- Conducting research on topics related to their fields of study
- Teaching classes in their area of expertise to undergraduate and graduate students
- Working with other faculty members to develop new courses or curricula, or revise existing ones
- Maintaining an active research program in their field, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Performing administrative duties such as overseeing the work of postdoctoral fellows and teaching assistants
- Participating in academic activities such as attending conferences, seminars, lectures, and workshops related to their field of study
- Preparing proposals for external funding sources such as foundations or government agencies
- Providing students with advice on their research projects or thesis topics
- Reviewing applications for graduate school admission or postdoctoral fellowships
- Medical Degree or foreign equivalent
- Pathology board certified/eligible
- Must be qualified for an unrestricted Louisiana medical license
