About Taylor Frazier:
I’m Taylor Frazier, a third-year PA student attending Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. I am from the quaint town of Haughton and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe where I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Toxicology. Like most freshmen at ULM, I initially was a pre-pharmacy major. It wasn’t until my junior year of college that I started to question my career choice. I knew I wanted to be in the medical field but wanted to have more patient interaction than that which a pharmacist has. I investigated the lateral mobility, length of education, the balance of autonomy and collaboration, and team-based care that PAs offer and knew this is the career I wanted to pursue!
After undergrad, I took a job at an OB/GYN clinic to gain experience to better prepare me for PA school. I immediately fell in love with this specialty and had my mind set going into PA school that women’s health was the field for me. While in didactic I took an interest in cardiology and was able to have it as an elective during clinical rotations. To my surprise, my top interests after completing rotations are Orthopedics, Cardiology, and anything surgery! I enjoy providing hands-on care, and performing procedures, and believe I will thrive in a surgical subspecialty setting.
My professional interests include education and community service. I enjoy being involved with my local community and believe as a future PA, it will be rewarding to not only help people medically but also in other capacities. I hope to one day take on the role of precepting students. I quickly learned that preceptors have a substantial role in how students perceive specialties and want to provide students with insightful and positive clinical experiences.
