    Position Summary Information

    Advertisement Saint Catherine University and the Exercise & Sport Science department invite applications for a full-time, grant funded Grant Coordinator.

    The Grant Coordinator is responsible for supporting management of a multi-year Research Education Program (R25) recently funded by the National Institute on Aging. The Grant Coordinator will implement the next five years of the Katies for Aging Research and Equity (KARE) Program at St. Catherine University and will be responsible for ensuring cohesion among key internal and external stakeholders through an active role in 1) program management, 2) student recruitment, 3) student support, in close collaboration with the KARE co-directors. Each year, a cohort of six underrepresented students will be recruited to the KARE program and provided with wrap-around support, courses within a minor in Longevity and Aging, and paid internal and external research opportunities. This position will serve as an important student-facing liaison to support the recruitment of each annual cohort of undergraduate scholars as well as an advocate and champion for the scholars' 4-year KARE experience.

    Responsibilities:
  • Support the minor and collaborative KARE research that meets the objectives of the NIA R25 grant.
  • Manage community building, networking and career development events for KARE scholars.
  • Support the coordination of the weekly KARE Journal Club.
  • Support the students' completion in the Minor in Longevity and Aging, with a particular focus on their portfolio
  • Ongoing program evaluation, to ensure that all scholars have the opportunity to provide timely feedback.
  • Help students to navigate KARE program expectations; monitor scholar progress.
  • Assist individual students in finding relevant conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Support students continuously through their entire research process at partner institutions.
  • Ensure equitable opportunities for each scholar's academic and professional development.
  • Assist the Co-Directors in hosting and presenting KARE information sessions for recruitment.
  • Meeting one-on-one with interested students to discuss the program expectations and application process.
  • Maintain an active and engaging web presence for the program

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree
  • Experience in working with underrepresented minority students, ideally within an undergraduate University setting
  • Experience in grant and budget management
  • Experience coordinating and supporting sponsored research projects that involve undergraduate students
  • Familiar with Microsoft Programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Familiar with, or willing to learn, best practices for website maintenance and social media engagement
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • BA or BS
  • Training in the areas of longevity, aging and gerojustice are encouraged
  • Experience working in the STEM and/or health-related field
  • Experience with conducting research with the desire for peer-reviewed dissemination
