    Summary

    The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Architect Engineering/ Construction (AEC) Contracting, Office of Contracting & Personal Property Management (OCon&PPM), Under Secretary for Administration, Smithsonian Institution (SI).

    Duties

    The Supervisory Contract Specialist is responsible for the overall planning, management and execution of the Smithsonian Institution's contracting, simplified purchasing, personal property and policy programs. This position serves as a principal policy advisor and overall analyst to the Deputy Director and Director of this office on matters concerning contracting primarily in the fields of construction, architecture and engineering for the entire SI in its worldwide operations.

    In this position, you will:

  • Serve as Associate Director for the Architect Engineering/Construction (AEC) Contracting Division, Office of Contracting & Personal Property Management, providing leadership, direction, and management of the operations for the AEC Division.
  • Provides operating policy and guidance to management officials at various senior levels. Serves as member of contract review boards with responsibility for reviewing approving or redirecting procurement strategy, plans and techniques for the procurement of systems, programs or services to support SI in its mission.
  • Plans, develops and establishes contractual strategy for the overall SI Ocon&PPM acquisition and contracting program. Plans for, manages and oversees a staff of contract specialists engaged in the negotiation, preparation, execution and administration of contracts.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the work of staff supervised. Provides leadership, direction, management and supervision to the supervisors and staff.
