Funko is a purveyor of pop culture and licensed-focused collectibles company located in Everett, WA.Funko currently holds hundreds of licenses and the rights to create tens of thousands of characters – one of the largest portfolios in the pop culture and collectibles industry.Funko's Pop Vinyl is the number one stylized vinyl collectible on the market, selling millions of figures to fans around the world.

This position is key in helping to bring Funko's new product to market with the most innovative and cost-effective packaging possible. This position is located sits in Funko's HQ Product Development team located in Everett, WA and will work cross-functionally with various key business partners (Creative, Product Engineering, Costing, Sourcing, Design, Creative, Product Integrity and Compliance) to deliver on key strategic packaging initiatives. This role will also play a critical part in evaluating and providing guidance on transit packaging (inners and masters) to help eliminate waste and decrease cost.

This role is responsible for working with Funko's internal fulfilment centers and providing product packaging solutions that maximize space allocation for receiving and storing product, container shipping maximization and other various needs. This role will also work with tour DTC team in establishing and recommending packaging standards for SIOC shippers tor product. Additionally, this role will help lead and drive packaging sustainability efforts with Funko.

·We need a packaging guru, who has a strong technical packaging development background but who also has experience collaborating closely with creative teams on packaging solutions.

·Design, engineer and execute packaging development from initial prototypes to mass production

·Work collaboratively with Product Development, Product Engineering, Creative and vendors and production facilities ensuring packaging meets required form, fit and function while meeting costing targets

·Ensure design meets performance requirements as well as compliance and testing requirements throughout its lifecycle by performing materials analysis, stress and failure analyses

·Evaluate and participate in design and engineering of inner and master cartons for product in passing performance testing ensure the safe transit of product

·Maximize space allocation of product in shipping and reducing overall product costs

·Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions

·Explore & share internally market trends, innovation and opportunities that will enhance our brands' packaging.

·Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, and transportation

·Creates rough packaging mockups for internal reviews

·Lead, guide and work with various cross-functional business teams in establish standard and guidelines for supplier evaluation.

·Works closely with cross functional teams to support, approve and provide technical solutions for packaging projects.

·Has the ability to create a packaging specification manual for suppliers & is able to ensure compliance of those technical standards.

·Lead in the packaging creation of new products creating and engineering packaging die lines balancing the aesthetics, cost reductions and sustainability

·Work with PD and factory partners to ensure that the packaging designs are optimized from manufacturability

·Work with Compliance and Product Integrity teams to ensure that packaging meets and exceeds published packaging standards (. ISTA Packaging Testing) and customer specifications are meet

·Work and help drive and lead in packaging sustainability efforts for Funko

Must-Have Superhero Gadgetry

·3 – 5 years of experience in consumer or industrial packaging (preferable in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company

·Bachelor's degree in packaging or mechanical engineering (or similar field)

·Knowledge and understanding of packaging design validation standards, labeling standards, and specification standards is essential

·Demonstrated proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD software is preferred

·Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and drive initiatives in a cross-functional environment

·The ability to communicate confidently internally & externally in cross functional teams

·Strong problem solving and decision-making skills

·Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team

·Experience in corrugate sourcing and/or cost savings process of packaging

·Understanding of process improvement and quality improvement concepts

·Experience with Microsoft Suite of Software

·Experience with Smartsheet is preferred, not required

Salary Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $73,600 - $92,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
