    Overview

    Critical member of accounting team for a growing publicly traded company.

    This position will report to the Director of Accounting and will be the key contact and liaison for Emerald's tax matters, including but not limited to, federal and state income taxes, indirect taxes, foreign taxes, tax due diligence for acquisitions, tax reconciliations, statutory tax audits and financial statements, quarterly tax provision and tax disclosures, etc.

    The ideal candidate will have the ability to monitor Emerald's tax accounts to ensure compliance and coordinate with Emerald's external tax accountants at Earnst & Young for any tax issues or matters.

    This position will report to the San Juan Capistrano, CA office in a Hybrid capacity

    Responsibilities

    Coordinate and prepare domestic and foreign financial data required for external tax accountants to file:

    Federal/state/foreign income taxes
    Indirect taxes (VAT, HST/GST, sales taxes, etc.)

    Review returns prepared by external tax accountants
    Assist with federal, state and foreign tax audits
    Monitor and respond to inquiries and notifications from regulatory agencies
    Submit and process tax payments and invoices
    Perform tax research, staying up to date on changes
    Support the accounting close and financial reporting process, including preparation of tax journal entries, reconciliations, disclosures, and SOX compliance.
    Support external accountants for the reporting of foreign statutory financials and taxes
    Coordinate, reconcile and review the quarterly tax provision or annual provision to actuals
    Support payroll and other departments for tax issues and inquiries.
    Participate in financial due diligence process for new acquisitions, play key role in developing tax integration and onboarding transition plans

    Qualifications

    BS in Accounting / CPA license strongly preferred

    • 10 years of experience in tax preparation preferred
    Big 4 Accounting firm background preferred
    Experience in a SOX 404B environment
    Experience with a fast-growing and entrepreneurial company
    Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to creatively solution issues
    Confident, initiative-taker, able to work with minimal direction
    Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    Target Compensation:
    $130,000-$150,000 (Bonus Eligible)

    Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate's qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
