- Defining and resolving process problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem-solving methods.
- Developing standard work and ensuring operators and supervisors are engaged and trained in running plant processes consistently.
- Develops layered process audits, control and reaction procedures, and standard work for all processes.
- Commissioning new production equipment and processes, monitoring modifications, upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
- Working closely with the Senior Manufacturing Engineer and Production Manager to monitor and improve the efficiency, output, and safety of the plant.
- Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved, to develop and implement process improvement.
- Measure, test and evaluate product characteristics.
- Manage process changes from conception to successful manufactured product.
- Provides technical leadership for environmental monitoring and ongoing performance of plant environmental controls and processes.
- Working closely with the operators and staff who oversee quality control of raw materials, finished products, plant maintenance, product specifications and production schedules.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of hands-on process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a wet formed fiberglass mat process or equivalent.
- Other backgrounds or demonstrated experiences that would also indicate a possible good candidate fit include quality manager, quality engineer, significant technical experience in identical processes, paper making or other coating processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong detailed oriented technical writing skills.
- Lean six sigma skills and experience preferred.
- Familiarity with SPC (statistical process control) would be helpful.
- Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple short and long-term projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment.
