    Job Description and Duties

    METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL - Norwalk, Los Angeles County

    Under the guidance of the Program Director Chief of Rehabilitation Therapy Services, the Rehabilitation Therapist supports the delivery of quality Rehabilitation Therapy services to patients in a safe environment. Responsibilities include:

    • Facilitating and ensuring quality rehabilitation services
    • Maintaining excellence in forensic evaluation and treatment
    • Utilizing knowledge of mental health principles
    • Exhibiting strong interpersonal, time management, organizational, and computer skills
    • Directing services towards restoring and maintaining optimal physical and psychosocial functioning

    The Rehabilitation Therapist specializes in areas such as:

    • ART - Utilizing art for assessment and treatment to enhance functioning and quality of life
    • DANCE - Using body movement for therapeutic intervention and self-expression
    • MUSIC - Providing music interventions for behavior change and communication
    • RECREATION - Using recreational activities to improve functioning and reduce mental health symptoms

    Eligibility is required; otherwise, an exam must be taken.

    Working Conditions

    Face Coverings: Compliance with current guidelines mandated by CDPH.

    Special Requirements

    • Successful Drug Screening
    • Clearance of Background Investigation
    • Medical Clearance
    • Flexibility to work in any Unit/Program and any Shift

    Communication will be primarily via email. Ensure email correspondence is monitored regularly.
