- Perform applicant physical examinations in accordance with agency standards and assist with applicant medical processing at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).
- Ensure the confidentiality of applicants is respected and that professionalism is maintained at all times in the medical department.

- Conduct complete face-to-face medical histories on applicants who have completed the prescreen process and have been authorized to process.
- Complete all computer and non-computer based medical documentation in accordance with the Command's software packages and policies.
- Verify problems or conditions alleged by the examinees and recommend to Command physicians if a more detailed physical exam of problem areas is required.
- Prepare electronic and non-electronic documentation used to assess the applicant's mental and physical fitness for service in the military.
- Perform physical inspections of previously qualified applicants to document their status for meeting standards at the time of actual enlistment on active duty and at any other time as required.
- Perform a variety of professional direct health care duties within the field of general medicine.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Possess and maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license as a registered nurse and APRN or APRN as required by the state issuing the license.
- Possess and maintain a National Board Certification as a Family, Adult, Adult-Gero, Adult-Gero Acute Care or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
- Possess and maintain current certifications/licensure in a state, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- May be required to work on Saturdays and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period.
- May require up to 25% temporary duty travel to other MEPS to cover staffing shortages.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- Credentialing will be required.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- Public Law , Section 321 and Public Law , Section 1094 require the successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check to maintain the position for which hired.

Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

The incumbent will serve as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) with responsibility for performing medical examinations and documenting medical history and findings in order for a determination to be made about suitability of applicants for service in the Armed Forces.

This is an open continuous announcement, meaning that several vacancies may be filled throughout the announcement period. As applicants apply, a pool of candidates is generated. Education:
A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position.
(Areas of specialties for positions include, but are not limited to, Acute Care, Anesthesia, Community Health, Family, Geriatric, Home Health, Midwifery, Neonatal, Oncology, Pediatric, Psychiatric, Allergy and Immunology, Women's Health, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, OccupationalHealth, Orthopedic, Respiratory, or other specialties identified for the position.)
This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Foreign Degree:
Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Professional Nursing Experience:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Providing and/or coordinating patient care; 2) Conducting screening examinations; 3) Ordering and/or reviewing diagnostic tests to treat health conditions; and 4) Maintaining patient medical records.
This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for professional nursing experience is permitted.
EducationFOREIGN EDUCATION:
