About Molly Kirmelewicz:
I am a physician assistant student about to graduation (March 2023) from South University - Tampa. I am originally from Boston, but looking to stay local. I am currently looking for an APP job that is in-hospital and procedural based.
Experience
I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell. I have had many different roles in healthcare, such as an EMT, emergency room technician and a unit coordinator on a telemetry unit and intensive care unit. These roles are what first sparked my interest in critical care. I was able to see patient care in the pre-hospital setting, in the emergency room and then all the way to the ICU.
I am about to graduate with my Masters in Physician Assistant Studies. During my time in PA school I have had 8 different clinical rotations. I did my surgery rotation with a general surgeon at a small community hospital in Newburyport, MA. This allowed me to first assist on various cases such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repairs with mesh, total/partial colectomy, ileostomy and colostomy placement, breast reduction, excisional biopsy, wound debridement with placement of wound vacuum, etc. This is where I began to love procedures and hands-on patient care.
I was able to continue my hands-on learning during my emergency medicine rotation at a community hospital in Largo, Florida. I performed multiple intubations, incision and drainage of abscesses and suturing of lacerations. I collaborated with the other physicians and advanced practice providers in the care of critically ill patients. I have also had the opportunity to spend my family medicine rotation and Lifetime Family and Urgent Care in Zephyrhills, Florida. During this rotation I had a lot of autonomy and it reminded me really how special and versatile the role of a PA is.
