Position Summary:
Welder
Badger Alloys is seeking highly skilled Welders with great knowledge of welding techniques.
The welder must have a technical aptitude with experience in casting repair using TIG (GTAW) welding processes and some MIG (GMAW).
Experience welding stainless steels, brass, and bronze is also a must.Familiarity with visual weld inspection procedures is a plus; Knowledge of Air arch and plasma cutting for defect removal is a plus.
95% of all casting are welded using TIG welding.Education and Additional Experience
Three plus years of solid TIG welding experience; must be able to understand and follow written and or verbal instructions; must be very detail oriented; must have good hand eye coordination; must be able to work in fast paced environment; must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.; ability to maneuver 50 lbs.
or more with overhead cranes; surface grinding, and read shop orders and follow instructions; Experience in Foundry industry is a plus.
Experience with x-ray reading is a plus.REASONING ABILITY
Effective problem-solving skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations; Ability to function and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use pneumatic tools frequently for the duration of an 810-hour work schedule. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; ability to maneuver 50 lbs. or more with overhead cranes. A 50 lbs. maximum is the limit in an area designated without the use of overhead cranes.
In all lifts and or moves employees are encouraged to gain the assistance of co-workers and or supervisors when maneuvering casting throughout the facility.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Periods of prolonged sitting, while performing job duties, are common. Employee is responsible for utilizing the appropriate lifting equipment provided, when necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires the use of hearing protection. The environment will involve climate variations to accommodate the winter and summer weather conditions.
