Performs all the functions of the Class C & D Welder plus lays out, assembles and tack welds structural pieces to form complex weldments.

Includes all functions of the Class C & D Welder plus:

Receives work assignment, reviews work instructions, routings and MOP's, and complicated drawings to determine layout, plan sequence of operations, welding requirements, visualizes completed weldment, determines shrinkage and distortion allowance and plan sub-weldments when needed.

Initiates through supervision, the correction of errors by Engineering or Processing. On occasion, will communicate directly with Engineering staff.
When required, uses a forklift truck to facilitate set up duties.

Bevels or trims parts using oxy-fuel or carbon arc torch when necessary to obtain accurate fit, burns out holes in weldment when required.

Uses manual or mechanized oxy-fuel process to heat and straighten plates and available mechanical presses as needed. Repositions work as required using material handling equipment.
Must be able to communicate well within a team structure.
Must have 1-3 years experience in MIG welding
Ability to work 3rd Shift.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and be flexible.
May be asked to work weekends. Ability to work weekends as needed.
