Overview
The Office of the Provost is responsible for setting and guiding institutional and budgetary priorities that advance the University's academic mission. Together with deans and senior administrators, the Provost directs and supports the partnerships, collaborations, and planning initiatives on four Massachusetts campuses and the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France and the surrounding region. This team champions and integrates educational and research activities across the university and ensures programs are of the highest quality by working closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and students. The Office of the Provost oversees the university's education, research, faculty affairs, innovation, and diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility operations.
This is an exciting time to join Tufts University in the Office of Institutional Inclusive Excellence (OIIE) Formerly the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), the Office debuted its new branding, as well as its goals and vision with the Tufts community on October 26th. Under the leadership of Monroe France, the inaugural Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence, the Office provides strategic vision and oversight for diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility across the university.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence, the Inclusive and Restorative Dialogues Program Director develops and leads the university-wide inclusive and restorative dialogue strategy in partnership with the Tisch College, Arts & Sciences, and Engineering. Facilitates dialogues, develops curriculum, leads research, and leads training of trainer efforts.
Responsibilities include:
Leads the university-wide inclusive and restorative dialogue strategy in partnership with other campus partners
Develops dialogue and restorative justice curriculum, resources and programs for students, staff, and faculty in response to campus, national or global incidents
Steers and expands research initiatives in inclusive, transformative, and restorative dialogues
Directs the Let's Talk About Race dialogue series and other related programs
Creates and implements trainings for trainers (Train-the-Trainer) and ambassador programs to advance inclusive excellence across the campus
Establishes, manages and facilitates a campus-wide Intergroup Dialogue program to explore identity, power relations, and best practices for solidarity through one-time and series-based offerings
Provides consultation to other campus leaders and groups on effective strategies to respond to incidents and conflicts
Manages the assessment of the inclusive dialogue efforts
Supervises a full time employee, the Associate Director for Inclusive Student Development and Excellence
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of a master's degree in higher education, inclusion, teaching and learning, social psychology, social work, or related fields
Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in leading and facilitating inclusive and restorative dialogue programs
Minimum of 5 years of Scholar/practitioner experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience with diversity and inclusion counseling
Excellent facilitation skills
Experience with program assessment and research design
Strong curriculum development skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree
7+ years of professional experience
Previous role in conflict mediation, restorative justice and/or counseling; experience developing and implementing inclusive dialogue frameworks and practices
Pay Range
Minimum $102,400.00, Midpoint $128,050.00, Maximum $153,700.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
An employee in this position must complete all appropriate background checks at the time of hire, promotion, or transfer.
