JOB DESCRIPTION:


SUMMARY:

The Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry (JIB) was established in 1943 by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union No.

3 and employers affiliated with the National Electrical Contractors Association.

Its mission is to promote harmony between employees and employers, administer benefits for members and their families and improve competitiveness through progressive management, education, training and technology.

Reporting to the Sergeant or Duty Officer, The Security Guard will be responsible for various duties, including but not limited to the following:

  • Performs general security work in the protection of persons, property, and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of the Joint Industry Board of Electrical Industry and Electrical Industry at all locations
  • Flushing and Long Island City.
  • Patrols buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism.
  • Secure, lock, unlock, protect floors and all common areas by conducting scheduled walks canvassing the building and property in the course of the assigned shift.
  • Oversee security front lobby desk area
  • When assigned to Flushing location will oversee security booth in the parking lot.
  • Help individuals in need and addressing management/members/visitors/delivery requests.
  • Maintain signin and security event logs.
  • Issue temporary building passes to guests as authorized by management.
  • Monitor building and property for unauthorized entry or suspicious activity. This may include having to remove and detain individuals until law enforcement arrives. Notifies law enforcement agencies when necessary.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, alarms, and evacuation of building if necessary.
  • Call for assistance from law enforcement, fire department and/or medical professionals in emergency situations, as needed.
  • Writes incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
  • Serve as backup for Security Guards for vacation, disability, breaks, lunch, at all sites.
  • Operate and monitor security camera system and radio.

Rate of Pay:
$25.81 per hour


Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Must practice sound judgment and high level of integrity.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and accurately in high stress environments and handle emergency situations.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours, walk up/down several flights of stairs, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid New York State Security Guard license/ SPO required for advancement.
  • New York State Security Guard/SPO required for advancement.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to meet any necessary physical requirements of the position.

License:


  • Security Guard (required)

In the absence of the Sergeant during normal shift, the acting duty officer will be required to perform the Sergeant's duties. Must work all shift as needed for operation.**
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This assignment will be for Flushing and Long Island City Locations.

Work environment with physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job.

Patrol, move, walk, sit and stand for prolonged periods in non-climate-controlled environments. Work involves exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. High stress environment.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a Temp to Perm Full Time Security Guard position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 5:00PM- 40 hours per week.


Flexibility:
Must be able to work overtime when necessary and for special events.


Travel:
Occasional Travel is expected to other location when necessary -Long Island City and Flushing for this position.
