    Right now, we are on the lookout for an Avionics Department Manager in Brainerd, MN.

    A Day in the Life of an Avionics Department Manager:

    In this role, you'll embark on an exciting journey with a remarkable company. Reporting to the General Manager, your primary focus will be on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining General and Corporate Aviation aircraft.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintenance and Repair: Skillfully perform maintenance and repairs on all avionics and electrical systems of aircraft, covering airborne navigation and communication systems, autopilot systems, weather radar, transponders, pitot-static systems, compass systems, instruments, and accessories.
    • Testing and Troubleshooting: Apply your expertise to test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters.
    • Customer Engagement: Collaborate directly with customers, offering avionics equipment solutions for their aircraft and preparing detailed quotes for complete avionics package installations.
    • Scheduling and Training: Efficiently schedule the installation, troubleshooting, and repairs of avionics equipment, while also training apprentice and avionics technicians in the art of proper installation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
    • Team Coordination: Develop weekly work schedules for all apprentice and avionics technicians within the avionics department.
    • Self-sufficiency and Cleanliness: Maintain self-sufficiency and a tidy workspace, consistently assisting with other assigned housekeeping tasks.
    • Records Maintenance: Keep repair station records and documents up to date in compliance with Avionics department requirements.
    • Team Collaboration: Offer your assistance to colleagues and other department members as needed to complete job tasks and functions effectively.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Avionics Expertise: A solid 5 years of experience in General Aviation avionics installation or related fields (FCC License Preferred), with FAA A&P mechanic qualifications as a plus.
    • Blueprint Proficiency: Adept at interpreting blueprint schematics and effectively coordinating work with technicians and other aircraft maintenance personnel.
    • Specialized Knowledge: Possess intermediate to advanced knowledge in wire harness fabrication, pitot-static systems, RVSM systems testing, and repair.
    • Manufacturer Familiarity: Previous experience with reputable manufacturers such as Garmin, Honeywell (Bendix/King), L-3, Aspen, Avidyne, PS Engineering, JPI Instruments, and/or (S-Tec) is highly valued.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in reading and understanding maintenance manuals and wiring schematics, along with basic knowledge of general computer applications (e.g., Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
