- Write and edit content for proposals, publications, and other program activities, both independently and under the supervision of other Rhode Center staff.
- Develop and implement implementation plans for long-term projects, including through legal research, management, and collaboration with external stakeholders, to analyze or improve the civil justice system.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to evaluate the civil and criminal legal systems; formulate and evaluate alternative policy solutions and/or recommendations.
- Teach and/or assist in the teaching and administration of courses. Create and/or advise in the development of curriculum.
- Represent the Center as a key contact and subject matter expert and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Organize and/or participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences. Lead workshops and facilitate meetings.
- Oversee and train student workers.
- Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.

The Center
Through a multidisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and policy, the Rhode Center works to make civil justice more equitable, accessible, and transparent and to promote the legal profession's commitment to the public interest.
In recent years, the Rhode Center has, among other things, established an interstate collaboration designed to improve access to online filing; convened scholars, practitioners, and judges to discuss multidistrict litigation and access to justice; pioneered new courses for law students; and published original research regarding digital courts, the regulation of lawyers, and judicial management of mass torts.
The Associate Director will assist the Center Co-Directors and Executive Director to formulate, implement, and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the Center, reporting directly to the Executive Director.
Specifically, the Associate Director will help to lead the Center's research agenda, programming, and public-facing work in the Center's four areas of focus: access to justice and innovation; law and lawyering into the digital age; client and consumer protection; and a stronger, more diverse profession.
This may involve student-facing activities (e.g., involvement in leading courses and managing the Center's Civil Justice Fellowship), original research (independently and with collaborators), and planning and oversight of convenings and other gatherings.
The ideal candidate will feel comfortable balancing competing priorities, driving forward research and programmatic goals, and collaborating with others inside and outside of Stanford.

The expected pay range for this position is $69,000 to $99,000 per annum.
