Logistics Specialist

Position Overview: The logistics specialist role is a multi-disciplined position that will find you interacting with demand planning, operations, production, and customer 3rd party logistics. The key position objective is to oversee the shipping clerk I and II positions and to complete all requirements of the daily shipping list, including expedites, and successful send of ASN's post shipments for those customers, this action closes our commitment to 100% on time delivery (OTD). This position is also a back up to the Logistics Manager in supporting customs clearance issues and CTSI freight pay approvals.

Willing to be assertive when required to keep customers shipments on track and closing remotely if required.
Must be a team player, work well with others, be able to adapt to change make good and sound decisions
Understand the processes for all customers related to logistics
Understanding and usage of MS Excel, ideally including ability to analyze data, using pivot tables and charting tools.
Obtain a fork truck license for plant activity of loading, unloading trucks moving skids etc.

Key Performance Objectives

(Short term 0-3 months)

OJT (On Job Training) with current shipping clerk(s) and demand planning group for shipping schedule
Learning shipping requirements for RMA's, Miscellaneous Shipments, and those customers defined by logistics manager as initial group to completing shipping requirements.
Learning of all KEJ customers, and their Product Hierarchies
Review all Materials shipments and processes
Review the shipping "routing information" for all KEJ customers
Review of the QMS documents for the shipping and logistics processing
Review SAP transactions to perform shipments and including carriers' programs/software where available
Obtain a fork truck license for plant activity of loading, unloading trucks moving skids etc.
Obtain quotes to determine lowest cost carrier for KEJ and customer shipments
File claims for damaged and lost shipments

Key Performance Objectives

(Midterm 3-6 months)

Able to develop and complete shipping requirements for RMA's, and miscellaneous documents
Able to develop and complete shipping requirements for some HMLV business unit, small programs requirements
Able to assist and support materials team including stock room, for materials gathering, packaging, and development of shipment requirements.
Able to assist team shipping clerk in activities required to support daily or end of month activities across
all programs.
Good understanding of the shipping software, processes and able to assist at month end
Confirm and convert parts from KEJ owned to consigned as requested.
Confirm, pack and ship parts to customers as requested following safe handling practices.

Key Performance Objectives

(Long term > 12 months)

Capable and knowledge required of processes and Sap transactions to support all aspects of shipping functions, including prep, pull and pack confirmation and daily ship schedule.
Training completed on all aspects of shipping and can complete shipping requirements of ALL customers
Capable of leading an activity that requires materials pull from stockroom, packing product, and working with other teams to develop and complete shipment of materials to customers.
Capable of assisting the Logistics Manger in freight analysis activities that could include using MS Excel, pivot tables, spreadsheets, and charting of data for visibility of carrier expense, and logistics metrics.
Capable of assisting the Logistics Manager in resolving billing issues with carriers and 3rd party freight payment.
Capable of assisting the Logistics Manager in resolving customs clearance issues
Able to work alone and as the sole shipping clerk with assistance from the pack confirmation resource when the co-clerk is out of office.
Continually, working to grow and increase knowledge and documentation and computer skills.
Process understanding depth at level that we can now suggest and identify opportunities for enhancements and eventual cost improvements (CI).
Maintain and direct 6S initiatives and practices within the shipping department.
Direct placement and organization of FG to ensure smooth shipping functions for the team.
Provide direction and coaching to shipping staff when circumstances arise.
