    Job Description

Pacific Lock Company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

First and foremost, a successful Mechanical Engineer at PACLOCK needs to be able to solve "problems." These "problems" are engineering focused and relate to development of innovative solutions with designs that drive value for the company.

Whether it is engineering a new product from the ground up or creating a new product out of existing products with minor changes incorporated, the bottom line for success is find smart, efficient, and effective solutions to drive company growth through product development.

PACLOCK considers this "problem solving." While PACLOCK is primarily a mechanical keyed padlock manufacturing company, we recently began releasing keyless, electronically driven security solutions.

The breadth of responsibilities will include creating mechanical designs in support of those electronic solutions.

This position works directly with the President/CEO of the company in an effort to inspire transformational product development in our market.

Secondarily, this position is also responsible for the creation and management of change/revision control of product designs as well as quality control for any outside/vendor services.

This position will create solid models using SolidWorks that will, in turn, be used by the production team to generate the programs necessary to manufacture the products on our CNC machines.

This position is on-site at our headquarters in Valencia, CA. This is not a remote position.

    Responsibilities:
Producing and maintaining technical specifications related to quality and production standards
Use SolidWorks and various Microsoft Office products to 3D model/design physical security products like padlocks to insure proper fit, ease of manufacturing, and consistent quality
Use SolidWorks to investigate and troubleshoot any non-conforming products produced in the factory to determine the root cause of the non-conforming parts, propose remedies, and build new documents to manage the remediation process
Determining when 3D printed samples or prototypes are appropriate and, when necessary, uses the necessary software to build the files used by the company's 3D printer
Creatively solve problems and prepare new product designs in order to maintain the innovative drive of the company's culture
Be able to track design notes, design philosophies, and design assumptions throughout the design process so that company management may understand how a design was constructed
Effectively communicate via email to vendors, both domestic and international, who produce components in support of the company's products
    Be familiar with package design

    Qualifications:
Previous experience in mechanical engineering, industrial design or other related fields
Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Creative and "out of the box" thinking
    Ability to prioritize and multitask
