The Museum of Flight seeks a Planned Giving Officer to lead its relationships with and program to support those who desire to include charitable gifts in their estate planning.

    We seek a person skilled at communicating with and understanding donors' needs as they build their plans, extensive knowledge of various planned giving tools, and a champion for the importance of deferred giving for the long-term health of the Museum.

    Together with the VP of Development, this person will oversee the Museum's planned giving program while also leading its integration with a nine-figure, multi-year fundraising campaign.

    Ready for a new challenge? Come soar to new heights with The Museum of FlightSummaryThe Planned Giving Officer contributes to the success of The Museum of Flight by growing and managing the Planned Giving Program, our Eagle Heritage Society, and our Legacy Advisor Network.

    Working both independently and as an essential member of the Museum Development (Giving) team, this person sets and executes the overall strategies and plans for the Planned Giving Program to ensure endowment goals and the long-range financial sustainability of our organization.

    Manage portfolio of Eagle Heritage Society (EHS) members and other donors who have indicated that the Museum is included in their estate plans.

    Lead Museum efforts to secure new and newly revealed planned gift intentions including bequests, the establishment of charitable gift annuities (CGAs), charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts and other complex non-cash gifts and deferred giving vehicles.

    Lead the discovery and identification process for new potential planned giving donors by utilizing constituent data to research and reveal most likely planned giving donors.

    Prepare and execute required documentation for planned giving processes.

    Supervise all planned giving related inquiries, including documentation of future giving, estate fulfillment, establishment of trusts and annuities; gift illustrations; endowment agreements; beneficiary notifications, and related activities.

    Lead Legacy Campaign including high touch cultivation events with target demographic, direct mail appeals, and marketing on Museum channels.

    Manage recruitment and stewardship of the Legacy Advisor Network, (Estate Attorneys, CPA, Financial and Wealth Planners, etc.) as part of the Museum's referral network and as expert speakers for educational programming for members and donors.

    Oversee and expand Planned Giving communication and marketing calendar aimed at identifying and recognizing planned giving constituents.

    Communications include, though are not limited to the Museum's Aloft magazine, the Legacy of Flight print and e-newsletters, and electronic/print surveys.

    Ensure and maintain stewardship and recognition components of overall prospect strategy; maintain and update accurate records for recognition and implementing appropriate benefits and stewardship activities for existing and potential EHS members.

    Work closely with the Museum President/CEO and VP of Development in the ongoing prioritization of planned giving donor cultivation and outreach.

    Provide regular analysis and reports to Museum leadership and stakeholders.

    Collaborate with the Development team to set donor strategy for cultivation and stewardship events, leading key actions before, during, and after, to fully leverage events.

    Actively engage with the Museum's Board of Trustees, Executive Staff, and other key volunteers to empower them as important planned giving donor strategists and advocates.

    Provide planned giving training and resources to donors and fellow development colleagues.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
    QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in a related field. Commensurate experience in non-profit development or planned giving may be considered in lieu of degree.

    Five (5) plus years proven success in donor-centered fundraising including experience developing and managing relationships with a portfolio of individuals who can be potential planned gift donors.

    Three (3) plus years of experience working with donors on deferred gifts.
    Two (2) plus years supervising staff or volunteers is preferred.
    KnowledgeA solid understanding of planned giving philosophy and strategy.

    Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and agreements, planned giving marketing, wealth management, nonprofit endowments, gift illustrations, legacy society recognition, financial planning, and estate tax and charitable gift laws.

    Keen understanding of the sensitivity and timing of planned giving conversations with donors.
    SkillsOutstanding organizational and communication skills including exceptional oral, written, and listening skills.
    Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) as well as a proficiency in donor database products. Experience with Raiser's Edge software, preferred.

    AbilitiesAbility to successfully manage unique and active donor relationships while serving as a trusted advisor to guide individuals through the gift decision-making process.

    Proven ability and ease interacting in both large and small groups; as well as among diverse populations.
    Proven ability to excel independently as well as contribute to a high performing team.
    Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and absolute discretion in donor matters.
    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.

    This full-time exempt position regular work week is primarily Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.
    Able and willing to work a flexible and/or extended work week which may include some evening and/or weekend work.
    Some travel, primarily local, with rare out-of-the-area and overnight travel to be expected.
    Reliable transportation and professional attire are required.

    BenefitsThe Museum of Flight offers full-time employees a generous and comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% match after 1 year of service, Employee Assistance Program, as well as company paid life insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and long-term disability.

    Paid-Time OffOur paid time-off plans include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave and 2 weeks of vacation (80 hours each) per year, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays.

    CompensationThe salary range for this position is $80,000to $110,000depending on experience.
