    Job Summary


    The Department of Occupational Therapy in the College of Health at Cleveland State University is seeking to fill a nine-month, clinical tenure-track position to begin August 19, 2024.

    Duties consist of assuming the role of Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, teaching courses within the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program, supervising clinical experiences and doctoral capstones, and mentoring/advising students.

    Key duties include collaborating with faculty; securing diverse fieldwork placements; providing guidance and serving as an advocate for students to ensure they meet fieldwork objectives; implementing evaluation processes and analyzing data to improve experiences; ensuring adherence to accreditation standards; enhancing the program; and teaching courses, seminars and workshops.

    Duties also include providing service to the Program, Department, College, University, and the community. This is NOT a remote position.


    The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed in the College of Health (COH) along with the departments of Communication Sciences & Disorders, Health Sciences & Human Performance, Music Therapy, Physical Therapy and the Schools of Nursing and Social Work.

    Together, the College includes more than 23 certificates, undergraduate and graduate health professions and nursing programs all designed to provide clinical and experiential learning, interprofessional practice and scholarship activities.

    The College of Health operates two on-site health clinics that provide hands-on training to our students and health care to our communities.

    The College deeply understands its role in advancing health equity, uniquely preparing practitioners and clinicians to practice and lead in a rapidly changing healthcare system.

    Minimum Qualifications


    • Licensed occupational therapist or eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio with a minimum of two years of professional experience in occupational therapy which must include clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist, professional experience as a fieldwork educator/supervisor or documentation of training in the roles and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator;
    • An earned entry level doctorate in Occupational Therapy from a USDE-recognized regionally accredited university at time of application or a post-professional doctorate by July 1, 2024 in Occupational Therapy or a related field from a USDE-recognized regional accredited university;
    • Evidence of potential in teaching and clinical supervision with the ability to teach core courses in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program in the following content areas: Level I and II fieldwork, evaluation and intervention of the adult and/or older adult in acute care and/or rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and/or population health;
    • Evidence of ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional relationship-building skills;
    • A record as a clinical educator/supervisor of more than two years, teaching, service, and/or research commensurate with appointment as a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor;
    • Experience as an academic fieldwork coordinator in an occupational therapy program;
    • Experience teaching and/or clinically supervising graduate occupational therapy students in the areas of adult acute care or rehabilitation, clinical practice, fieldwork or capstone;
    • Experience creating and implementing a Level I or Level II fieldwork experience;
    • Familiarity with OT education accreditation standards;
    • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
    • Experience promoting access;
    • Proficiency with electronic medical records and telehealth platforms;
    • Ability to support technology use for remote supervision, assessments, interventions, and collaboration; and resilience and adaptability to changing requirements, student needs, and clinical practices.
