    Visiting Assistant Professor in Musicology - Department of Music

    The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a one-year appointment in musicology at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, with possible renewal for two additional one-year terms, depending on departmental need.

    The Department seeks a scholar with specialization in music since 1750. Duties include a teaching load of two courses per semester in addition to a share of departmental advising on the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses will include an undergraduate survey of Western Music from 1800 to the present for students from CWRU and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

    The successful candidate for this position will add to a vibrant team of music scholars, artists, and educators. CWRU and The Cleveland Institute of Music cooperate in a Joint Music Program, providing students with the advantages of both a conservatory and a major research university. The two institutions share a campus setting in University Circle, together with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Music Settlement, and over twenty other cultural organizations.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must have at minimum ABD status in a doctoral program in musicology, a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, and an active program of research and publication in musicology. A completed PhD by August 1, 2024, is preferred.
