The State Forestry Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia currently manages 364,000 hectares of private and municipal forest land as a service provider through 15 regional forestry offices responsible for the area.

It also manages approximately 120,000 hectares of state-owned forest land. In addition, the Eifel National Park is part of the State Forestry Administration.

The State Forestry Administration is also responsible for carrying out sovereign tasks according to the State Forestry and Community Forest Acts.

With 19 forest districts, the regional forestry office oversees 35 forest management associations (covering 30,500 hectares). This includes 57 forest cooperatives with 5,550 hectares of community forest.

In addition to managing state-owned forests and providing advice and support to private forest owners, the forestry office also carries out sovereign tasks in the region.


Main tasks:


  • Identifying, locating, and marking trees affected by beetle infestation or drought damage
  • Assisting with coordination of wood supply (e.g. contractor and forestry worker deployment) and transportation logistics
  • Assisting with coordination of logistics sites
  • Assisting with preparation and coordination of reforestation efforts

Professional requirements:


  • Completed diploma/bachelor's/master's degree in forestry/forest science
  • Successfully passed examination for statecertified forestry technician
  • Successfully passed examination for forestry master
