- Supervises the investigation and preservation of relevant facts concerning claims against or by Norfolk Southern for death or injury to persons or damage to property arising out of company activities within assigned territories.
- Supervises the evaluation, control, and negotiation of fair and reasonable settlements of claims and lawsuits as assigned to incumbent and direct reports in multiple offices.
- Exercises independent judgment in the settlement of claims within settlement authority limits.
- Assists trial counsel in defending the Company's interests in the event of litigation.
- Maintains liaison with other railroad departments and collaborates with local counsel when responding to casualty matters.
- Responsible for the supervision and training of subordinate personnel on assigned territory.
