About this Role:
UWL, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated and analytical problem-solver to come join our family as a Director, Business Process for our growing operations in Chicago
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and improve key export air departmental productivity indicators
- Instill and foster a climate of compliance to meet regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures and external
- Look for areas of improved efficiency to improve customer experience as well as controlling costs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers (shipping lines, trucking companies, and others)
- Evaluate vendors at defined intervals per company policy, focusing on areas of possible improvement with corrective action plans
- Qualify export air opportunities to determine validity of requests
- Reach out to various UWL vendors/partners to establish rates and rating structure for both ongoing clients and transactional
- Coordinate client needs and requests with internal stakeholders (operations, sales, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal parties, establishing rates for requested services
- Present rates based on customer requests in an accurate and timely fashion and follow up with the customers to determine
- Work directly with management teams to review monthly & quarterly GRI's, making recommendations on how to best handle
- Monthly reporting of various metrics
- Mentor, coach, and develop new team members
- Provide feedback and suggestions on process and systems improvements and take a leadership role during rollout of said processes
- Prepare reports on the performance of export air departments and suggest improvements that will enhance the company's profit
- Resolve customer complaints and be able to negotiate amicable settlements
- Proactively provide pricing alternatives, routing solutions and technical assistance to clients
- Respond to requests for proposal, quotation, or information timely and with market competitive pricing matching the scope of
- Take an active role in the transition of new business/updates to existing business
- Leveraging your expertise in air freight operations and supply chain management, you will optimize processes, monitor shipments,
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of air export operations, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and shipment
- Implement best practices and streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Communicate proactively with clients to provide updates on shipment status, resolve issues, and address inquiries
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 35 years in international air export logistics pricing, sales, operations or similar role
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to organize the team effectively and efficiently
- Ability to make decisions at critical times and whilst under pressure
- Ability to lead a team and be sensitive to the needs of others
- Strong negotiation skills
- Critical thinking skills and problemsolving techniques
- Experience with direct customer/vendor interface
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Organized and detail oriented
