The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Senior Transportation Engineer position focused on TxDOT within the Transportation group. The Senior Engineer will act as a discipline lead engineer or overall project technical lead conducting the planning, scheduling, and coordinating of detailed phases of assigned project work. They will make design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for complex transportation projects. The Senior Engineer will perform and/or review calculations using engineering formulas and skills and completes own design work which may involve computer-aided and/or manual design calculations. Ulteig is a 100% employee-owned company with ESOP contribution for eligible employees after the first year of service.

What You Will Do

• Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks.
• Oversees development of plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineering practice.
• Practices value engineering as it pertains to design selection.
• Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality.
• Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan the work and accomplish goals.
• Technically involved with the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigation or observations.
• Checks design plans and computations done by others.
• Coordinates design aspects of a project.
• May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered.
• Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
• May participate in marketing, sales, and business development activities within the Texas market.
• Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
• Works closely with other disciplines on multi discipline projects.

What We Expect from You

• B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• Civil Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Texas is required.
• 12+ years of transportation engineering experience in design and/or construction is required.
• Extensive experience working with TxDOT is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients, public, and external agencies.
• Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong information management skills.
• High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness.
• Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills.
• Displays a high level of initiative while exploring new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization.
• Experience in CAD Software Applications such as C3D or Bentley MicroStation preferred.
• Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Compensation Range is Generally +/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $147,500
