The flagship ECU Health Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and ECU Health Maynard Children's Hospital serve as the primary teaching hospitals for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
ECU Health and the Brody School of Medicine share a combined academic mission to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina through patient care, education and research.
Position SummaryThe Director, ECUHMC Hospital Operations is the primary point of contact within ECU Health Supply Chain for developing and implementing ECUHMC hospital-wide tactics and providing customer service and education/training associated to the ECU Health Medical Center.
Assigned duties and responsibilities at ECUHMC include central distribution and inventory management (via Pyxis supply stations and JIT deliveries), shipping & receiving, laundry/linen services, mail room, courier services, salvage warehouse functions and customer service components of Supply Chain/Materials Management operations.
Responsibilities include organizing and directing all department functions and activities, supervising managers, supervisors and/or staff, establishing goals and objectives consistent with mission, values and social principles of the organization, and developing policies and procedures.
The director will be accountable to interpret policies, standards and regulations to personnel, vendors, patients, medical staff and the public.
In the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities the Director will ensure actions are consistent with the mission, vision and values of ECU Health.
Fulfillment of responsibilities extends to consideration and accountability for meeting and balancing timely availability and delivery of product and services across to support clinical and/or operational requirements.
This responsibility includes collaboratively working efficiently and effectively with all supply chain departments at ECU Health to ensure timely implementation of cost savings initiative as developed system-wide or specifically for ECU Health Medical Center only.
An ability to create plans that offer and drive cost savings as well as future revenue enhancement will be foundational to our success in delivering value to the Eastern part of North Carolina.
Facilitates the implementation of systems, programs and strategic initiatives that advance capability of the organization.Develops and aligns strategies, initiatives, supporting infrastructure, and budgets that enables the organization to achieve results that align with established quality imperatives to create and sustain operational excellence.
Communicates department objectives to staff to ensure understanding of goals and their alignment. Oversees initiatives and operations, including staff, budget, and vendor management of multiple departments. Measures effectiveness and take steps to ensure continuous improvement of performance of multiple departments. Facilitates change to advance the organization and uses resources and operational practices to drive execution of plans.Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are followed to support a safety culture, evidence based care, high reliability, performance improvement and transparency.
Accountable for a positive organizational culture in decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction.
Member of entity management teams and functions as a key liaison between the leadership teams, staff and physician partners of the health care facility and programs.
