    PLUMBER with Security Clearance - Hickam AFB, United States - Department of Defense

    Description

    Duties * You will locate and tap main lines, set up system routes, place and cut route openings, and place hangers for correct level and slope to make repairs.

    * You will select tools, methods, or techniques to use to carry out plumbing work. * You will align pipes, valves, fittings, joints, braces, and supports to control movement, vibration, expansion, and contraction. * You will troubleshoot plumbing systems and equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment. * Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

    The Screen-out Element for this position is:
    ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:

    I have the ability to perform common tasks including 1) Assisting with installing, modifies, repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment within facility infrastructures (sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems) in order to locate and tap into main lines, locate system routes, placing and cutting and installing valves and unions, etc; 2) Reading and interpret blueprints, sketches in order to lay out projects, using proper procedures and operations; 3) Utilizing tools and equipment of the plumbing systems).

    I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

    ICTAP Applicants:

    To be considered well-qualified and exercise selection priority as an ICTAP candidate, displaced Federal employees must satisfy all qualification requirements for the position and receive a rating in the highly qualified category (score 85) or higher.

    PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation Military Spouse Preference applicants will be placed at the highest grade for which they have applied and are determined Best Qualified (BQ). A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position. PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation. Emergency Overtime may be required. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position may require rotating shift work.


    PHYSICAL EFFORT:

    The work involves making repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the parts of systems worked on ,may be in hard-to-reach places.

    This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May . be required to lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up 40 pounds.


    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather. May occasionally make repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. May occasional be exposed to the possibility of broken bones and/or scrapes, burns, and infections.
