    Job Title: Controller

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Reports to: Chief Accounting Officer

    Position Summary:

    Maintains the timely and accurate processing of transactions that support the general ledger, cash management, tax, and audit functions. This position will have direct responsibility for accounts receivable/payable, inventory, fixed assets, and cash. The Controller will be responsible for closely affiliated and subsidiary reporting.

    To serve our community through volunteerism and produce a return on assets which will assure the future prosperity of our employees and our company. To be an ambassador of our "Living Brand" by building relationships with our internal and external customers.

    Accounting Department Mission:

    We provide our Family Express Team with tools that help them do their jobs more effectively and efficiently. We offer problem solving assistance to ensure a more accurate result.

    We are proactive internal auditors who continually strive for excellence. We create innovative procedures and programs to monitor company activity and assure integrity and the future prosperity of our Family Express Team.

    Role Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in accounting or finance and five plus years of accounting experience, CPA preferred.

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Builds Relationships
    • Promotes Living Brand
    • Ensures all accounting practices are in compliance with GAAP standards and established accounting principles
    • Oversees General Ledger and systems for corporation reporting
    • Leads month end consolidation and balance sheet review
    • Leads efficiency projects within accounting department
    • Controls the payment and collection processes, identifying discrepancies and reconciling accounts
    • Oversees, monitors, and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and database management
    • Leads external audit
    • Manages quarterly internal audits
    • Manages the accounting staff including the development of cross training for all positions
    • Participates in and contributes to management meetings
    • Accepts other duties as assigned

    • Accounting ERP functionality familiarity - PDI, Sage Intacct preferred
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

    • Previous retail experience preferred
    • Microsoft Office experience
    Reporting To This Position: Accounting Associate

    Physical demands and work environment:
    • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to both sit and type for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
    • Work Environment: Must have flexibility, all days of the week, when necessary. The natural accounting cycle ebbs and flows and dictates things like vacation approval.
