    Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Genetic Counselor to join our team of 20+ genetic counselors in the Center for Personalized Genetic Healthcare.

    This role will involve seeing patients in the Taussig Cancer Institute and possible satellite locations.

    Current trainees and genetic counselors at all skill levels are encouraged to apply, career ladder in place with various salary levels based on experience.

    As a Genetics Counselor at Cleveland Clinic, you will:

    Provide medical/clinical genetic services to individuals and families with a medical history of a known or suspected inherited condition.

    Provide information and counseling. Coordinate genetic testing. Evaluate and determine individual and family needs and makes appropriate referrals based on evaluations. Participate in education, outreach, and professional development activities.

    Job Responsibilities:
    Performs genetic counseling in accordance with the American Board of Genetic Counseling Genetic Counselors' Scope of Practice guidelines.
    Identifies and coordinates appropriate genetic testing.
    Reports results to the patient and the referring pletes EPIC documentation and billing within established guidelines.
    Attends training on the electronic medical record system (EPIC) and gains expertise.
    Builds patient pliant with IRB processes and GMI research standards, as appropriate.
    May consent patients to research protocols.
    May assist with data collection.
    May serve as a liaison between the laboratory and healthcare providers and patients for translational research.
    May coordinate a research study.
    May contribute to scientific manuscripts and abstracts.

    Begins to network with healthcare providers in other Institutes, Family Health Centers or community pletes CITI training as well as other mandated within 90 days of hire date.

    Submits an abstract or proposal for an accepted educational session for a professional medical society meeting.
    Provides community outreach at health fairs.
    Become familiar with the content of existing CPGH educational materials.
    May represent Cleveland Clinic and CPGH at least one professional education conference per year.
    Other duties as assigned.


    Education:
    Master's Degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program

    Certifications:
    ACMG (American College of Medical Genetics)/ABGC (American Board of Genetic Counseling)

    Board eligible or certified.
    Ohio Medical Board licensed or eligible.

    Must obtain ACMG or ABGC certification within one year of date of petencies (Complexity of Work):

    Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    Must be able to work in a stressful environment.


    Work Experience:
    Knowledge of genetics and genetic counseling

    Physical Requirements:
    Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity sufficient to operate a personal computer in the course of work, normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying of 5 to 15 pounds

    Personal Protective Equipment:
    Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
